PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) is delivered weekly to our students; in lessons for Key Stage 3 and in Learning Family time for Key Stage 4. During our Safety Days, PSHE is also taught through Project Based Learning and Workshops delivered by staff and external agencies.

Jigsaw 11-16 (Secondary PSHE) is the programme of study delivered to all students. Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE, brings together PSHE, emotional literacy, social and employability skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. Jigsaw 11-16 covers all areas of PSHE including statutory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education. The content is student-driven and in line with the latest national guidance.

The statutory status of RSE and Health education, from September 2020, requires the delivery of more sensitive topics including: online safety, sexting, puberty, consent, FGM, breast ironing, LGBT+, pornography, gender and sexuality, grooming, sexual exploitation, radicalisation, self-harm, contraception, sexual health, STI’s, abuse, forced marriage and honour-based violence. All content is age appropriate and delivered with consideration of all individuals. Jigsaw 11-16 fulfils statutory requirements for RSE and Health Education, and supports Ofsted.
